Ceramic Art Experience (Takehara City)

Takehara retains streetscapes from the Edo period in Preservation Districts for Groups of Traditional Buildings.
The Tokobo Fudo workshop in this preservation districts offers the chance to try your hand at making pottery.

1. Hand-shaping / Potter's wheel Try your hand at creating bowls from clay.
2. Painting Paint a picture on a bowl on your own.

Whatever you create will be fired in the kiln at Tokobo Fudo once it's complete.

Please note that, depending on the shape you created, your pottery may crack during firing.
It will take about a month to get your bowl.
You can pick up your work, or delivery it to you (shipping fee on arrival).

Reservation: Reservations must be made at least one day prior to the workshop.
Maximum number of persons: 3 or more
Duration: Hand-shaping / Potter's wheel: 60 - 90 minutes
Painting: 10 - 30 minutes
What to wear: Clothing you don't mind getting dirty, apron or smock
