Saijo Sake Brewery District

Saijo's sake brewery district prospered as hub of land transit in the Edo period (1603-1868). Blessed with the perfect climate and groundwater for sake brewing, Saijo would later become known as one of the most prominent Sake Brewing Capitals of Japan. Today, seven breweries line the streets, continuing to brew flavorful sake using traditional methods. You and your guests are sure to delight in the charming townscape full of history and culture with its red brick chimneys, traditional namako walls, and Saijo-style latticework.
