Hiroshima Museum of Art

In the front yard of the Hiroshima Museum of Art, located within walking distance of the International Conference Center Hiroshima, you will find horse chestnut trees and the Marronnier Fountain. The trees were gifted to the museum in 1980 by Claude Picasso, son of Pablo Picasso, to cerebrate the opening of the museum in 1978. Each year in early May, the trees flower with beautiful pink blossoms. In the Marronnier Fountain (the French name for horse chestnut tree), you can find colorful carp (a symbol of Hiroshima and the name of their beloved baseball team!) swimming under the elegant spray of the fountain. The museum’s inner courtyard is a spectacular green garden that you can enjoy while holding parties, receptions, events, and more.
